2. - Where Did We Come From?
There is a famous book called “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy” which states the answer to life the universe and everything is 42. Puzzled by the answer the characters in the book are informed that in order to understand why the answer is just a simple number is that first you need to understand the question.
In our modern sophisticated world we live in, of course, we all know where we came from. The universe came into being as a result of “The Big Bang” and over millions of years every living thing has evolved from a simple primordial soup into the vast diversity of organisms, plants, animals, birds and us humans which we see today.
This answer is not quite so puzzling to us as 42 and there is rather more detail supplied to explain the answer. Our education shows science has proved that we can now explain almost entirely how we came into being, and the bits we may not understand are being unravelled all the time. Our Big Bang/Evolution answer is now almost universally understood and accepted to be the facts which explain the answers to Life, the universe and everything!

Or so it would seem..
So most of us have no need or desire to ponder this question at all, we all know the answer.
Something to ponder and explore…
If we go back say just 250 years of our supposed millions of years of existence, our Big Bang/ Evolution answer to how all things began would be met by the same puzzled expression as if you were told that the answer was 42. Even some Scientists, the ones who truly know the ins and outs of all of these explanations admit, somewhat bravely these days, that there may be another possibility, another explanation.
There are in fact just two possibilities to explain how everything came into being..
1) The Big Bang / Evolution explanation.
2) This Universe and everything in it was designed and created by a supreme being, God.
The second of these explanations has become unthinkable in our modern age, it really is old fashioned and rather naïve to believe God created everything.
Consider the following though and why it may be important to do so…
While we have made very convincing arguments that show us it would be possible for simple biological life to grow and change from simple cell goo to the vast diversity of life we now see, the whole idea of evolution is stopped in its tracks as a cohesive idea by considering some more very simple questions:-
Where did emotions, love, feelings, personality and even our innate sense of right and wrong come from? How do you build these into the evolutionary process?
While this mind boggling question is whizzing round your brain you may also want to explore:
DNA – How did it get inside every cell?
Even the simplest of all cells contain DNA. An instruction manual and operating system way more complex than any of our computer software. You would think maybe simple cells would be simple. In fact they are unbelievably complex. Even with all our amazing scientific knowledge we still have not completely mapped all the processes which go on in even the simplest of cells.
This rather shows us even simple cells could not come about by atoms randomly mashing together as the process of evolution would suggest.
MISSING LINKS – Why are they are all still missing?
There has never been shown any single example of one sort of creature evolving into another. Yet if evolution is true there would be millions of in-between stages as one creature transmutes to become another. Scientific diagrams of the “Tree of Life” join the dots from one creature to another, yet there is nothing between the dots, no evidence to allow us to join the dots. This isn’t science it is simply a guess based on no evidence. A guess which is treated as fact.
DEVOLUTION – Did you know we are actually devolving rather than evolving?
Our human genome is getting more fragmented and having more mutations rather than improving as you would expect if we are in an evolutionary process.
When you start to examine questions like these our explanation of life and answers of how everything came into being starts to look more like the answer 42 after all.
Why is this important? Who really cares and what does it matter?
The answer to these questions start to become more clear when you start to look at Who we are, rather than where we have come from, and Why our understanding of who we are puts a different perspective not just on how we see the origins of life but also on how we should live…..
